Code Cracker Solver is a free helper for code cracker and codeword puzzles: the number grids where every number stands for a letter. Type the numbers from one word to see every word that fits, keep a key of the letters you’ve cracked, or copy in the whole grid and solve it at once.
Who it’s for
People who enjoy the code cracker in the paper, a puzzle magazine or a puzzle book, and sometimes get stuck. It’s built to be easy to read and easy to tap: big letters, big buttons, and nothing to sign up for.
How it works
- Everything runs in your browser. The numbers and letters you type stay on your device.
- Your key and grid are saved in this browser, so they’re still there when you come back.
- The solver follows the puzzle’s rules: the same number is always the same letter, and different numbers are different letters.
- If a grid won’t solve, it looks for the square or word that doesn’t fit, which is usually a number copied wrong.
The word list
The words come from SCOWL (Spell Checker Oriented Word Lists) by Kevin Atkinson, version 2020.12.07, available at wordlist.aspell.net. We use the British and Australian spellings, leave out names and abbreviations, and drop a short list of slurs. The copyright and license notices for SCOWL and its sources are in this file.
